Danish Center for Energy Storage, DaCES, is a partnership that covers the entire value chain from research and innovation to industry and export in the field of energy storage and conversion. The ambition of DaCES is to strengthen cooperation, sharing of knowledge and establishment of new partnerships between companies and universities.
If Denmark shall succeed in the development and implementation of new energy technologies such as energy storage and conversion, a broad knowledge of political and legal frameworks, economic models, the role of civil society as well as new forms of organization and collaboration across sectors and disciplines is necessary.

Beyond industrial applications, the 1 GWh system being developed by Hyme Energy and Sulzer represents a significant advancement in grid-scale energy storage. With the capacity to power 100,000 homes for 10 hours, this technology could play a crucial role in integrating more renewable energy into power grids.
Denmark’s energy grid, which has been a frontrunner in incorporating wind power, remains exposed to periods of imbalance and price fluctuation, and BESS installations will offer useful management and optimization. The Everspring portfolio, financed by Ringkjøbing Landbobank, is intended to provide flexible capacity to the Danish grid.
Commenting on the Danish energy storage market, Copenhagen Energy said that it offers a solid mix of revenue opportunities through both ancillary services and energy arbitrage.
