The project will be located alongside the 500 MW Ibri II Solar Project, commissioned by the ACWA Power-led consortium in 2022 (see Oman Reveals Shortlisted Companies For Ibri III Solar Plant). The Ibri III project is estimated to be built for a total investment of OMR 155 million ($402.6 million).
A subsidiary of Singapore’s Sembcorp Industries recently announced the successful completion of the acceptance tests for its 588 MW Manah II Solar Project in Oman. Nama Power is the offtaker under a 20-year agreement (see Middle East & Africa Solar PV News Snippets: EWEC Secures Land for 4.6 GW New RE Projects & More).
Ibri III is slated for commissioning in the last quarter of 2026. Oman has selected nine prequalified applicants for the development of the 500-MW Ibri III solar power project with an estimated investment of OMR 155 million (USD 402m/EUR 377m).
Proposals were filed by a consortium consisting of Masdar, Korea Midland Power (KOMIPO), and Al Khadra Partners, an alliance between ACWA Power and TotalEnergies Renewables, and a partnership of EDF Renewables and Korean Western Power (KOWEPO). The fourth bid came from Sembcorp Utilities.
